I'VE BECOME MY MOTHER by Rose Baldwin

I'VE BECOME MY MOTHER by Rose Baldwin

I see it in the mirror

I’ve got her jowls and waddle

her belly and her rear

I do the things she did

and even use her words

my hopes my dreams my fears

are very much like hers

Though we rarely did agree

and barely liked each other

resistance failed us both, and

I’ve become my mother
