SPANISH GUITAR by Thad Buckley

SPANISH GUITAR by Thad Buckley

                She waits

                Silent

                Alone on stage

Small reflections from the aisle lights

                Highlight her polished brown skin.

                Waiting.

                I walk to my chair

                Take her in my arms.

                Talking dies.

                I touch her strings

                She barely whispers sounds

                Like a lover

                Her lips to my ear.

My fingers pluck, and pick, and strum

She responds with sounds from deep within,

                I hear and feel,

                Deep inside my soul.

We become one, soaring through the heavens,

                Loving where we are.

                Too soon, it ends

                The applause begins.

I hold her close, wishing she could hear.

My gift was only the song,

But hers was the magic of the music.
