Our handyman passed away last week.

He was the last of his line.

We were sad. He was a nice guy.

He always made us smile, but I don’t know how or why.

They had an estate sale.

All the curious went.

We went too.

Just to see what the fuss was about.

The house was filled with knickknacks.

Little figurines. Cracked dishes.

Photographs on the wall. Pictures of a life lived.

It was all in the past; like he never existed. His life wasn’t there.

But then we went to the garage.

We found his life among his tools.

Hanging on a peg board. All in their spots.

This is where he lived. It was then we knew he existed.

Lynette Tucker has always been a writer at heart. From an early age she has had a love of words. In second grade, she developed a love of poetry, and in high school, pursued creative writing classes. As an adult, writing had to take backseat to the busyness of life. But now, she is returning to one of her first loves. She has several poems and short stories published through her membership with the Diamond Valley Writers Guild. Lynette is also a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators and the Northwest Christian Writers Association.
